Full Job Description:
The Campus Security Officer will help maintain a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and school visitors while enforcing safety and security policies established by the Director of Campus Security. In order to align with the school’s culture, the Campus Security Officer’s actions and demeanor should be welcoming, positive, and flexible while prioritizing community safety. The Campus Security Officer must always have respect and regard for students’ emotional and social well-being. Duties are performed as assigned in all weather conditions, to include but not limited to foot patrols around the campus and traffic control during carpool.   
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in daily security post orders and be a visible, active and positive presence throughout the campus
  • Secure facilities, assets, students, and personnel by working with the appropriate departments
  • Help coordinate school safety compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and enforce school-wide adherence to requirements
  • Help coordinate safety, security, and emergency preparedness training for staff and students
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess, identify, and mitigate any security vulnerabilities
  • Remain professional and objective in all situations, exercising sound judgment while under stress
  • Initiate contact with and maintain a good working relationship with other security organizations and law enforcement agencies
  • Monitor and analyze CCTV camera footage for disturbances and/or unlawful acts
  • Attend all in-service training, as may be directed by the Director of Campus Security
  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Director of Campus Security
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check to include criminal history and registered sex offender search, as well as a verification of educational credentials 
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a professional unarmed class A security officer permit through the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners Private Officer’s Licensing Unit
