Unity Outreach and Engagement is where the heart of what we do, helping and serving, engages the spirit of community, relationship, and partnership. We work to develop relationships and partner with service organizations both regionally and nationally to distribute Unity’s inspirational materials. We support our churches, centers and individuals with programs and materials of spiritual support. We welcome and support campus visitors and activities with tours and materials. And we support Unity conference travel as well as partner events and sponsorships across the country.

Position Summary:     

Program Manager contributes strategy and execution for Unity Outreach in developing partnerships with regional and national service organizations as distributors of inspirational content. Plans and executes specific program initiatives for Unity Outreach and Message of Hope. Provides project management, planning support, and execution of all Outreach programs and projects. Serves as primary point of both internal and external representation and liaison with respect to program implementation and operational matters.  This position must be flexible to negotiate a variety of situations and personalities and display an unfaltering positive attitude when engaging with the public and fellow team members. A flexible schedule is important.


Essential Job Functions:

  1. Participate in strategy and drive development/implementation of Outreach partnerships with national, regional and local organizations. Primary purpose is to develop relationships to distribute Unity’s inspirational materials.
  2. Oversight and direction for Unity Outreach Program through our churches and centers. Includes annual booklet production, promotion, distribution, and training.
  3. Responsible for Message of Hope program support and proactive outreach.
  4. Participates in the planning and execution of special events, projects, and other initiatives designed to achieve the overall mission, goals, and objectives of the Outreach and Engagement department.
    1. Travel with Unity program
    2. Unity Conference travel planning and support
    3. Partnership/Engagement travel planning and support
  5. Create and manage budget where appropriate.
  6. Serves as primary liaison with internal and external constituents on all matters relating to events and programs.
  7. Oversees and administers all facets of the day-to-day operations of the various programs and activities related to the position.
  8. Work closely with other Unity departments to facilitate services agreed upon. (i.e. Communications)
  9. Provides administrative support in the development, implementation, and marketing of program/project function.
  10. Monitor production status of project deliverables using in-house project management software, email, and telephone communications. Manage process and maintain communication flow and advise appropriate staff of ongoing project status.
  11. Document discussions, decisions, and action items for project meetings. Prepare charters, scope, and other documentation.
  12. Regular and reliable attendance at the worksite and adhere to assigned schedule – this position is not a remote or telecommute position.
  13. Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements including all safety guidelines
  14. Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance and time off request.


Non-Essential Job Functions:

  1. Administrative support for the VP of Outreach and Engagement as needed.

  • Bachelor’s degree or work equivalent in a project manager position.
  • Active in the Unity or New Thought Movement.



  1. Five years’ project management experience or demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities required to meet project and program management expectations.      
  2. Strong organization skills.
  3. Create and manage a budget.
  4. Work with little or no supervision.
  5. Able to make decisions pertaining to events and project management.
  6. Experience in balancing multiple projects of varied priority and uphold quality while meeting strict deadlines. 


Computer Skills:         

  • Advanced end-user of MS Office Products:  MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook


Certificates & Licenses: 

  • Certification by Project Management Institute (CAPM or PMP) or willingness to obtain certification in a defined period of time is preferred.        
  • Licensed Unity Teacher or Unity Minister preferred.


Other Requirements:   

  • Commitment to continuing education in project management best practices and software management is preferred.
  • Experience with MS Access, Visio, and Project preferred.
