Financial Counselor - Full Time, Days ACH

Saint Luke’s ACH (Anderson County Hospital) in (Garnett, KS) is seeking a Patient Accounts Representative to join our team. You will perform a variety of functions related to managing the accounts receivable, following established processes and polices for billing and reimbursement. The Patient Accounts Representative is responsible for visiting in-house patients, collecting estimated patient liability amounts, explaining all financial information and responsibilities, and working closely with outside agencies to ensure patient's financial coverage.  

 

Shift Details: Full-Time, Days, 40hrs/wk. 

 

 

Job Summary:

 

The Financial Counselor will be responsible for providing financial counseling to in-house and walk-in patients, collecting estimated patient liability amounts, explaining all financial information and responsibilities, and working closely with outside agencies to ensure patient's financial coverage. This position will require excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Visit all patients in-house and provide estimates to patients while explaining insurance benefits.   
  • Review and manage work queue to identify daily work and follow up with FCC as appropriate. 
  • Utilize eligibility systems, online websites, or phone calls to determine insurance benefits. 
  • Assist patients with payment arrangements and coordinate with the CSU for financial applications. 
  • Enter pertinent insurance information into EPIC.
  • Enter appropriate notes for all patient encounters. 
  • Complete financial analysis and collect estimated patient liabilities. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare finance or related field preferred. 
  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance plans, billing procedures, and healthcare regulations. 
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proficient in the use of computers, including MS Office Suite and EPIC. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

 

Experience with facility claim submission for a hospital system is preferred.  

Epic experience a plus.
