Oversees field operations for medium to large scale, and/or complex projects. Trains and mentors field associates.





  • Collaborates in the preconstruction team on budgets, trade partners, and planning of operational activities.

  • Supports development and review of trade partner bid packages.

  • Foresees critical aspects of field management and implements plans to successfully manage.

  • Supports in preparation of trade partner scopes of work.

  • Executes site-specific quality control and site-specific safety plans.

  • Develops self-perform work plans.



  • Develops and implements construction worker workflow, overall project logistics, and a comprehensive hoisting and rigging plan.



  • Collaborates and co-develops with project management in developing the project schedule and ensuring project schedule is complete and accurate.

  • Works with the project team to develop a recovery plan by resequencing activities, adding staff, and/or scheduling overtime if the schedule slips.

  • Coordinates and schedules trade partners, vendors, and site staff on a daily/weekly basis by tracking timelines, follows up and adjusting as necessary to keep on schedule.



  • Develops corrective measures to steer the project back in budget, if necessary, by communicating and coordinating with suppliers and trade partners.



  • Establishes material and equipment needs and quantities.

  • Establishes equipment needs with the logistics Center and evaluates merit of purchases versus rental.



  • Establishes quality control plan for each project to ensure the project meets and exceeds expectations.

  • Conducts pre-installation meetings to set the quality control expectations.

  • Manages punch list with the goal of zero items on the list by continually monitoring and settling the expectations throughout the project.

  • Ensures all applicable inspections, including structural, civil, and codes are performed, and discrepancies are resolved immediately.



  • Ensures all documentation for the project are maintained, organized, and up to date.



  • Establishes and manages production rates for Field Craft to ensure work is being performed within budget and unit requirements.

  • Manages Field Craft and project staff needs by communicating with Field Craft Manager and Construction Operation Manager to add and remove staff and adjust accordingly.

  • Evaluates staff performance and provides feedback to Field Craft Manager and Construction Operations Manager to maximize and strengthen the team.

  • Coordinates project work force needs by evaluating staffing with project team.

  • Manages associates by monitoring attendance, performance, safety compliance, quality control, conduct, and adherence to core values. Addresses disciplinary issues and relays information.

  • Provides encouragement and recognition for work completed on time and with high quality.



  • Trains and mentors Field Superintendents, project team members and associates.

  • Actively participates in training and development of associates.



  • Co-develops and leads weekly trade partner meetings and pre-installation meetings.

  • Co-develops and participates in OAC Meetings.

  • Develops and maintains relationships representing McCownGordon in the most professional manner.



  • Develops and implements project safety plan and coordinates with Safety Department.

  • Leads and prepares weekly site safety walk-throughs.

  • Ensures site-specific safety reporting daily/weekly.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (requirements before going into job)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • 5+ years’ experience in the construction industry

  • Basic knowledge of personal computer and e-mail applications.

  • Proven ability to accurately schedule construction activities or projects.

  • Demonstrated success in effectively managing safety on projects.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients, trade partners, or associates.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works in outside weather conditions.  The associate frequently works near moving mechanical parts.  The associate occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposes to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
