Position Description:
Reviews accounts for regulatory and billing compliance to ensure accurate and timely filing of claims and accurate reimbursement. Offers support and assistance to other team members, volunteers, and other agency staff.

  1. $2500 for Full Time Employees

We ask you to support us in achieving our Mission and Vision by contributing the following:
  • Daily workflow includes reviewing the accurate entry of patient demographics, insurance carriers, benefits, authorizations, regulatory documents, patient statements, so that collections stays current and on track.
  • Follows status of Commercial patients as related to authorizations, authorization renewals, authorization changes, benefit maximums, and payment of premiums including exchange products and COBRA. Work with patient care staff to ensure updates are provided in a timely manner.
  • Performs daily audits of all new admissions and charts to ensure all documents are present and correctly signed within the patients chart or in Docuware.
  • Submits all Medicare/Medicaid/Commercial forms in required timeframe to ensure reimbursement. Contact nursing homes, insurance case managers, as needed for information.
  • Follows status of Medicaid patients as related to pending or retroactive eligibility, surplus and spend-down issues and dates for re-application by patient. Develop relationships with social workers and enlist their participation when needed.
  • Communicates with Revenue Cycle Manager regarding any billing software issues and clearinghouse issues to ensure the timely and accurate submission of electronic claims transfers and payments.
  • Answers calls, emails, and ensures prompt follow up to all correspondence for information, both internally and externally.
  • Participates in special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Manager and CFO.
  • Notifies and assists with obtaining information for updates in master files, including pay sources, billing rates, procedure and revenue codes. Assists with other file maintenance information as needed (physicians, location, vendor, and private insurance codes).
  • Communicates effectively and professionally within the team environment, demonstrating respectful and appropriate language and nonverbal behavior; actively seeking to resolve patient and family concerns in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize, understand, and appreciate our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), by demonstrating social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to diverse patients, families, and staff.
 
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED, required.  Some relevant college courses, preferred.
  • Awareness of specific payer and regulatory pre-billing requirements to ensure successful, accurate and timely billing of claims for reimbursement.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology including ICD, HCPCS and CPT codes, required.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial Insurance, required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with billing and collections, required
  • Prior Home Health or Hospice billing, preferred
  • General office skills data entry, filing, scanning, and storing documents.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, families, referral sources, insurance case managers, physicians, and other staff members with courtesy, responsiveness and cooperation.
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; must schedule and manage time effectively
  • Reliable transportation and current auto insurance needed; travel to all parts of the facility and throughout the community required
