Cafe and Retail Shop Manager

Position Summary: The Café and Retail Shop Manager is responsible for leading all team members in the efficient and profitable operation of the store. They are responsible for managing the day-to-day store operations, maintaining high store standards and conditions, and fostering a positive environment, which provides consistent fast, efficient, and friendly service ensuring a quality experience for both our customers and team members which includes cleanliness, sanitation, and professional appearance.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Ensures and is accountable for profitability of the store by growing sales and controlling costs of goods, inventory levels, labor, supplies and expenses.
  2. Maintains and utilizes daily, weekly, quarterly and annual financial reporting tools.
  3. Work with Food & Beverage Manager to develop, create and execute food and drink menus and offerings.
  4. Conducts bi-annual retail inventory with retail lead.
  5. Ensures proper team member coverage, scheduling according to the needs of business while maintaining target labor costs.
  6. Oversees all cash management functions. Able to perform all POS duties, front and back of house functions including opening and closing procedures.
  7. Maintains proper loss prevention standards, reviewing cash handling procedures, deposits and safe procedures.
  8. Ensures that the Café is sanitized, cleaned, stocked, and setup correctly at start of and throughout the shift while always adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
  9. Sets the department standards for customer service by training team members on steps of service, sequence of service.
  10. Plans, executes and communicates all sales promotions and new product information effectively and efficiently.
  11. Identifies staffing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training needs of qualified candidates. Facilitates on-going training and development of current staff.
  12. Promotes and practices safe work habits, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and any team member or customer incidents.
  13. Conducts monthly safety meetings ensuring team member compliance in all safety initiatives.
  14. Regular and reliable attendance at the worksite and adhere to assigned schedule this position is not a remote or telecommute position.
  15. Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements including all safety guidelines.
  16. Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance and time off request.

 

Non-Essential Job Functions:

  1. Annual deep clean of the Café and Retail Shop.
 

Education: Associates Degree preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Three years retail and/or food management experience required.
  • Proficient on a computer; familiar with software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Must be able to work overtime, including weekends, evenings and special events as needed.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Must have effective problem solving/decision making abilities.
  • This position will require frequent standing and use of hands and arms.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Computer Skills: Intermediate end-user of MS Office: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.

Proficient with internet research

 

Certificates & Licenses: Must have or be able to obtain a ServSafe Foodservice Manager Certification.
