Position Description:
The Sales & Shift Coordinator is responsible for implementing resale shop operations including donation processing and management, inventory selection, stocking and displaying merchandise, daily record keeping, volunteer care and management, and online sales and social media promotion. Sales & Shift Coordinators oversee the preparation, organization, pricing, cleaning, and disposal/passing forward of items, as well as provide excellent customer service and assistance with the day-to-day operations of Story Boutique by Kansas City Hospice.

$2500 for Full Time Employees
$1250 for Part Time Employees
  • 2-Year Loan Agreement (90 day waiting period): Approved amount ($1250 or $2500) paid 1st year and the remaining balance the 2nd year.

  • Implements systems for acceptance/rejection of merchandise, including storage and display of merchandise to assure quality inventory.
  • Works with development team members to develop and maintain networks to assure adequate supply of inventory. Ensures consistent, timely, professional lines of communication are maintained with all internal and external customers.
  • Anticipates needs of business and communicates with Vice President of Development, Facilities Manager, and others as needed to assure effectiveness of the shop's operation.
  • Works closely with communications team to promote store activities on social media, post items for sale on eBay and other online sites, and capture pictures and stories for use in store promotion.
  • Captures pictures and stories, creates social media posts, and contributes to a dedicated blog on a variety of subjects surrounding the store, the KCH mission, fashion and home décor, and donors and volunteers.
  • Works with Grief Support team to implement “Sorting Through” and other grief support programming which supports the Kansas City Hospice mission.
  • Assures adequate numbers of volunteers are maintained for efficient operation. Oversees the day-to-day training, supervision, and direction of volunteer functions.
  • Complies with departmental and Agency policies and procedures, safety, environmental and infection control standards, and all laws and health regulations to which the Agency is subject. Implements environmental and personal safety control measures according to department/unit standards. Adheres to expectations and reporting requirements of Corporate Integrity Program.
  • Utilizes resources in cost effective manner. Reports on and off duty and for scheduled meetings in a timely manner Adheres to policy and maintains confidentiality of store, volunteer, donor, and other information.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED, required; Two (2) to Four (4) years college coursework preferred in business administration and/or marketing.
  • Prior retail sales experience required; prior retail management experience, preferred.
  • Familiarity with community, civic and social organizations and businesses, preferred
  • Must be a strategic thinker, a professional problem-solver, and a master of systems, while also being a “people person” who serves as the first-line liaison with donors and customers and offers valuable insight into their unique needs.
  • Ability to develop rapport and communicate effectively with customers, donors, volunteers, other KCH&PC staff, patients and families; demonstrates necessary skills to prepare and present information in oral and written formats
  • Maintains positive work relationships and contributes to a team environment by demonstrating respectful and appropriate language and nonverbal behavior
  • Actively seeks to resolve customer and co-worker conflict issues, problems and concerns in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates respect, courtesy and empathy to all individuals; patients, families, co-workers, customers, and volunteers.
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; must schedule and manage time effectively
  • Reliable transportation and current auto insurance needed; travel to all parts of the facility and throughout the community required
