JOB SUMMARY
The lab technician will be the primary support of the day-to-day product testing in the laboratory. An ability to troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment is desired. Regular duties will include processing samples into lab database, testing and contemporaneous recording of results, sample collecting and prepping, running daily sensory panel, cleaning of dishes, and maintaining of laboratory. Other job-related duties as assigned. Strong attention to detail and ability to learn new test method/skills desired.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete all company and job-related trainings as required
  • Follow Production schedule and Release schedule to collect and analyze samples
  • Proficiency in the use, care, and troubleshooting of the following instruments:
    • pH meter 
    • Benchtop Densitometer/alcolyzer
    • Optek Haze
    • Spectrophotometer (color/bitterness)
    • Gas chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (including autosampler) 
    • TPO/O2/CO2 analysis (bottle line) 
    • Seam checking equipment
    • Seal testing equipment 
    • Haffmans/Orbisphere/Anton Paar portable devices (Dissolved Oxygen/CO2) 
    • Microscope(s) 
    • PCR
    • Autoclave

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES DESIRED
  • Proficiency in performing techniques/procedures to complete tests for the following:
    • Sensory evaluation 
    • pH 
    • Total Acidity 
    • Acid/base titrations (active caustic) 
    • Plato/density and ABV 
    • Haze (cold vs warm) 
    • Color 
    • Bitterness 
    • GC beer analysis (including data transfer) 
    • Sample Retain collection (package lines) 
    • Gluten analysis 
    • ATP measurements 
    • Seal/seam testing of packaged products 
    • Aseptic transfers 
    • Aseptic sampling of tanks and packages 
    • Preparation of microbiological media (plates/broth) 
    • Cell counting 
    • PCR analysis 
    • Evaluation of microbiological media for contamination
  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, etc.)
