Story Connections is a program for those experiencing memory loss and their caregivers. This specially designed program will create a meaningful museum experience that ignites conversation inspired by the collection between participants and facilitators, and provides community support for this audience.
Participants will experience a 30-minute, object-based tour and discussion in the gallery, followed by refreshments and further conversation with a hands-on focus in the Museum’s education space. Doors open at 1:30 PM to explore the featured gallery before the tour. This program is offered in partnership with the Heart of America Chapter of The Alzheimer’s Association and the I’m Still Here Foundation.
On February 24th, explore “Teddy Bears: Protector, Supporter, Friend.” Since their creation in the late nineteenth century, stuffed animals have been symbols of safety, camaraderie, and love for children and adults. Join the Museum for a discussion on one special teddy bear on exhibit while snuggling with stuffed animals from our interactive Education Collection. The conversation in the Museum’s galleries will be followed by a hands-on activity and refreshments.
