Join us for a special Pride edition of Workforce SynQ featuring guest speaker Stuart Hinds, Curator of Special Collections & Archives (UMKC). This virtual lunchtime session invites you to log on, grab your lunch, and engage in a compelling look at the roots of LGBTQ civil rights.
Many believe the struggle for LGBTQ civil rights began with the Stonewall Uprising in 1969. In fact, for nearly two decades prior to that pivotal moment queer activists pushed for equal treatment of gay and lesbian citizens. This presentation will discuss that movement and the surprisingly pivotal role Kansas Citians had in it.
The program will run approximately 45 minutes, followed by time for Q&A.
Come ready to learn, reflect, and connect as we honor Pride through a deeper understanding of the movement’s early voices and impact.
Zoom link will be sent in registration confirmation.
