Foster Care & LGBTQ+ Youth Presentation

Join Cornerstones of Care and the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce for a powerful and informative 30-minute presentation focused on the urgent need for foster parents in the LGBTQ+ community. With approximately 1,500 youth currently in foster care across the metropolitan area, there is a critical shortage of caring adults ready to step in and provide stability, support, and belonging.

LGBTQ+ youth are overrepresented in the foster care system nationwide, and many express a strong desire to be placed with foster parents who share or affirm their identities. This session will dispel common myths about who can become a foster parent and highlight the vital role LGBTQ+ individuals and families can play in changing young lives for the better.
