AFFINITY: a feeling of closeness and understanding that someone has for another person because of their similar qualities, ideas, or identity

AFFINITY GROUP: a group of people having a common interest or goal or acting together for a specific purpose

Affinity groups, also known as employee resource groups (ERGs), bring together employees with similar backgrounds or interests and can have a powerful influence in the workplace. Companies have long realized the power of affinity networks to help their employees navigate culture, offer networking, professional and personal development opportunities, and ultimately attract and retain employees.

Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce wants all workplaces to be spaces where ALL employees, regardless of background, identity, culture, or other facets, have a community to which they belong.  We want all affinity groups to have the support they need to thrive.  This meeting is all about equipping your existing and emerging affinity groups with the tools and resources that will allow them to take their work to the next level. So we all can reach the goal of more robust, inclusive, and equitable employee experiences.
