Organization Description

Led by Artistic Director Stuart Carden and Executive Director Angela Gieras, Kansas City Repertory Theatre is a 60-year-old regional theater. KCRep is the professional theatre in residence on the UMKC campus. Spencer Theatre, a 550-seat modified thrust theatre, is housed in the Olson Performing Arts Center. Copaken Stage is our 319 seat LORT D space, which is housed in the H&R Block world headquarters in downtown KC. The subscription season currently consists of four productions as well as the annual special presentation of A Christmas Carol and an annual community tour in the spring.

Job Overview

The Associate Director of Finance is responsible for managing various accounting functions to ensure accurate and sounds financial records. Specific responsibilities include maintaining records for the General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Endowment Investments, and for periodic reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

General Ledger - ? Process financial transactions throughout the month ? Prepare and enter journal entries in General Ledger accounting software including correcting entries and expenditure allocation ? Enter box office, development and miscellaneous reports into cash receipts journals ? Responsible for monitoring and management of cash-flow ? Reconcile bank deposits to daily box office and development reports ? Reconcile general ledger accounts and demand deposit accounts ? Perform month-end close activities ? Support annual budgeting process, maintain departmental budget in Excel and funnel into accounting software

Accounts Receivable & Fixed Assets - ? Maintain accounts receivable schedule ? Responsible for fixed asset tracking, depreciation and schedule maintenance 

Endowment Investments - ? Responsible for tracking of a multi-fund endowment and verifying that donor stipulations are met for all funds ? Review investment account statements monthly and execute fund accounting procedures for invested endowment funds ? Ensure precision of net asset classification for different funds and compliance with Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act regulation

Reporting - ? Prepare month-end financial reports for use in forecasting and budget management ? Generate scorecards, financial statements and reports for review by the board and external funding organizations ? Implement internal control systems to ensure accuracy of records at fiscal year end ? Responsible for preparation of internal materials for external financial audit  

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related area of study. Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum one year’s experience in increasing responsibility in accounting.
• Experience using the knowledge, skills and abilities associated with non-profit financial accounting.
• Understanding of complexities of not-for-profit accounting including fund accounting, fund raising, and compliance issues such as Sarbanes-Oxley and UPMIFA.
• Ability to clearly and accurately maintain and convey financial information.
• Knowledge of Blackbaud’s Financial Edge preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills • Excellent analytical and judgment skills
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to function under deadlines with minimal supervision, while maintaining a calm manner and pleasant disposition.
