The City of Roeland Park, Kansas, is accepting applications for a Municipal Court Clerk. This position plays an important role working with the Municipal Court Judge and City Prosecutor to ensure all court-related clerical duties are done in a timely and professional manner. This position is also cross-trained to assist the police clerk on assigned tasks as needed. Experience with INCODE software is highly desired. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1) Court Related Activities 80 % of Time
- Maintains Notice to Appear records in arrest book and computer file.
- Prepares subpoenas as needed for prosecution and defendants.
- Tracks overdue fines, sends notices.
- Prepares complaints, warrants, and other official documents as required by the court, or prosecution.
- Prepares bond list, reports, and court docket for judge and prosecutor on a weekly basis.
- Maintains records of fees collected by the Municipal Court and provides information to the City Clerk for disbursement of bonds and reports to state agencies.
- Operates listed office machines as required.
- Composes, types, and edits correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness.
- Attend conferences and training to keep up to date on Municipal Court operations.
2) Police Activities 20% of Time
- Trained to serve as backup to the police records clerk.
- Maintains an awareness of all municipal court processes and procedures assuring that knowledge base is current and up-to-date

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing; working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

- Maintains confidentiality and discretion as a rule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, filing, accounting or bookkeeping
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Bi-lingual Spanish speaker is highly desired, but not required.
- No felony convictions.
- Must be bondable.
