Summary

An Equipment Reliability Engineer provides support to the Production and Maintenance organizations for the operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with new equipment specifications, checkouts, installations.
  • Maintains equipment documentation files.
  • Develops and maintains preventive and predictive maintenance procedures.
  • Leads complex troubleshooting activities related to breakdowns and other reliability/throughput issues.
  • Assures compliance with Health & Safety and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assesses risk and executes projects to improve equipment efficiency, reliability, and uptime. 
  • This engineering role is hands-on, with regular direct interaction with skilled craft.

You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or bachelors of science degree in Physics from and accredited program. 
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
  • US Citizenship, capable of obtaining and maintaining a US Dept of Energy "Q" level security clearance.

  • Experience working with complex machines and their installation, repair, and/or upgrade.
  • Ability to work without supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance, management of small projects, consultative services, risk assessment and regular participation in innovative solutions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine problems and determine root cause and appropriate corrective action for machine breakdowns.
  • Experience with maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, upgrading and/or modifying complex production, manufacturing, or laboratory equipment and automated controls.
  • Experience with types of automated equipment controls including PC, PLC, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) controlled equipment.
  • Understanding of electrical theory, circuits, and hardware applications. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and logic sequences.
  • Machine design experience including modifications, upgrades, improvements, and/or modernization of production equipment.
  • Experience in the use of CAD and/or solid modeling (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
