financing expertise and on-the-ground advocacy to give small business owners access to

traditional lenders may overlook, we empower entrepreneurs throughout our communities to
build a more inclusive, vibrant local economy.
The Business Advisor will play a key role in advancing AltCap’s mission of increasing our small
business and microloan deployment in traditionally underserved communities and marginalized
entrepreneurs. Specifically, the Business Advisor will act as AltCap’s internal subject matter
expert on all things finance and loan readiness, providing hands-on guidance and training to small
business owners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as Altcap’s content expert as it relates to lending, finance, or small business
consulting/mentoring.
• Transform applicants into successful borrowers by deploying AltCap’s financial literacy
strategy.
• Provide one-on-one coaching to pre and post borrowers.
• Assist partnerships manager in networking and community resource tracking.
• Assist clients with their application process and preparing documents.
• Design, author, and stand up AltCap owned Technical Assistance offerings.
• Support data collection and governance.
• Connect, support, and recommend external Technical Assistance offerings for clients.
• Regularly analyze borrower portfolio and implement Technical Assistance interventions
to prevent defaults.
• Collaborate with external subject matter experts to assist in development of curriculum.
• Strengthen and take ownership of Loan Readiness Accelerator program.
• Work alongside Business Financing Specialists, Market Presidents, and Partnerships
• Manager to identify improvements within applications.
• Understand and be able to communicate AltCap credit policy.
• Lead the AltCap borrower mentor program.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or Education; Master's Degree preferred or
equivalent experience.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish a MUST.
• 5+ years in finance/consulting
• Small business expertise relating to business plans, tax strategy, cash flow analysis, etc.
• Engaging and confident educator and presenter.
• Demonstrated expertise in event participation, turnout, retention.
• Excellent curriculum designer.
• Experience working within distressed communities.
• Adaptive and culturally competent.
• Commitment to AltCap's mission of promoting economic opportunity for underserved
communities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Curious and committed to continuous development.
• Self-starting team player.
• Project management experience a plus.
• Banking, lending, CDFI, or small business experience a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and Salesforce a plus.
• Adventurous eater.
