Receiving Specialist

Position Summary:   Responsibilities include the process to receive incoming merchandise/products for internal and external distribution. Oversee department operations to ensure timely receipt of merchandise, inventory control, quality of service, and adherence to policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Unload inbound shipments safely and move products and merchandise to storage locations.
  2. Efficiently process and document incoming merchandise.
  3. Coordinate, manage, and maintain inventory of incoming products and merchandise.
  4. Record and verify receipts of incoming shipments of materials and supplies to ensure accurate and timely internarial distribution.
  5. Coordinate with inbound/outbound carriers on pick-ups, deliveries, and claims. Inspect incoming goods for damage.
  6. Pick up incoming mail each morning from the post office.
  7. Coordinate with vendors, customers, and other departments to schedule deliveries and resolve any issues that may arise.
  8. Stay up to date on company policies and procedures regarding receiving, shipping, and handling of hazardous materials.
  9. Adhere to all safety regulations to protect oneself, fellow employees, and company assets.
  10. Use equipment such as pallet jacks to move large quantities of products.
  11. Keep work areas clean and organized to facilitate a safe and efficient work environment.
  12. Assist in training new employees on proper receiving procedures.
  13. Perform physical inventories and cycle counts of products and materials on a regular basis.        
  14. Pick, pack, and ship orders.  
  15. Maintain order and inventory accuracy while restocking picking inventory. Add, subtract, divide and multiplication utilized.
  16. Regular and reliable attendance at the worksite and adhere to assigned schedule. – this position is not a remote or telecommute position.
  17. Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements including all safety guidelines.
  18. Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance and paid off request.

 

Non-Essential Job Functions:

  1. Operate postal, UPS, and all shipping systems. Being able to assist and train other team members.
  2. Assist in daily cycle count and year-end inventory process.
  3. Maintain and run reports, as required.
  4. Cross train in all distribution department functions to support and assist other members of the team, as needed.
