POSITION SUMMARY
The Pharmacist staffs the pharmacy by preparing medication, completing drug utilization and product reviews, providing clinical consultation to patients, overseeing dispensing, giving pharmacological information to multidisciplinary health care team and monitoring patient drug therapies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and dispenses medication orders by interpreting physician orders, completing drug utilization reviews, checking technician data entry orders and product reviews, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
- Dispenses medications ensuring products are labeled and packaged in accordance with the law, preventing adulterated and misbranded medications from being dispensed to the patient.
- Completes pharmacy operational requirement by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow; verifying order entries, verifying their preparation of pharmaceutical products and labeling; and providing feedback to improve workflow functions of pharmacy staff.
- Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the US Drug Enforcement Administration, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs; assist board of pharmacy inspector during inspections; maintains records for all prescriptions including controlled substances when applicable, and maintain current registration/licensure; study existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.
- Assists pharmacy manager with inventory control including but not limited to removing outdated medications, recalls, and counting medications during inventory.
- Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols and hazardous medication handling procedures.
- Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Proactively provides counseling and assistance at check-out window to patients and pharmacy staff.
- De-escalates customer service concerns, escalating to vice-president when resolution cannot be achieved.
- Treats all patients and employees with dignity and respect including but not limited to using proper pronouns, preferred names, and talking to others in a non-judgmental fashion.
- Provides internal customer service by promoting a positive work environment, free of judgement, bullying, gossip and negative attitudes/demeanor.
- Advises pharmacy personnel and health center providers about dosing, therapeutic incompatibilities, formulary changes and substitutes, adverse drug reactions, allergies, and evidence-based interventions.
- Develops health center staff’s pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs, pharmacy and therapeutics committee, and training.
- Checks and responds to emails minimally every 48 hours.
- Check and respond to voicemails within 24 to 48 hours.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Meets deadlines set forth by directors, vice-presidents, and chiefs.
- Complete any other task and duties as designated by vice-president and pharmacists on duty.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
- Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy
- Licensed in the state of Missouri and Kansas
- One (1) year of community/public health practice
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Pharmacy technician and workflow management skills
- Inventory management
- Specialty experience, esp. HIV and HCV
- 340B experience
- Familiarity with transgender medicine and patient services
- Bilingual (Spanish)
