In 2009, health care student volunteers founded The Kansas City Free Eye Clinic which unites eye doctors, volunteers, and supporters to serve hundreds of low-income and homeless adults & children each year with comprehensive free eye care and eyeglasses to prevent blindness from sight-robbing eye disease and offer meaningful quality of life improvements through clear vision. We believe in simple fixes that are low-cost and high-impact enabling people that seek our services with necessary quality of life improvements. Without accessible eye care, someone may lose the ability to find employment posing a burden on their family, be unable to drive safely, or children may not see the chalkboard and have a hard time learning. Our safety-net clinic frequently serves those who haven?t had an eye exam in over 7 years and are at high-risk for debilitating vision loss to unseen, gradual eye disease.
