The City of Overland Park seeks a Part-time C Community Center Attendant for the Matt Ross Community Center.
Summary:
Responsible for assisting patrons and monitoring activity areas within the community center. Enforces rules and regulations; checks-in patrons, collect monies; sets-up and arranges rooms; and performs light custodial duties.
Responsibilities:
- Assists patrons in the use of the community center and monitors various activity areas within the facility to ensure a safe and healthy environment. Enforces established rules and regulations. Sets up and takes down equipment, materials and supplies, as directed.
- Responsible for checking in patrons, collecting program and event fees, and operating the Class software program for all transactions.
- Sets-up and arranges rooms for meetings and other functions. Ensures that room is clean and properly prepared prior to and at the conclusion of all meetings.
- Distributes equipment and ensures proper use and return of equipment.
- Performs light custodial duties, sweeping, mopping, picking-up trash, etc.
- Maintains and enforces proper usage on cardiovascular machines during peak times.
- The employee must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors and any other persons or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.
- The employee must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks, where applicable.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A least 18 years of age.
- 1 year of experience in a fast paced customer service environment.

- Ability to operate power and/or hand tools such as screw drivers, hammers, and powered wrench.
- Ability to operate fitness equipment.
- Ability to make and receive phone calls.
- Ability to operate office equipment such as copy machine, calculator, fax machine, typewriter and personal computer.
- Ability to push/pull up to 30 lbs.
- Hand and eye coordination adequate to input computer and typewriter.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds and transport 20 feet.
- Ability to reach, stand, lift, crawl, bend, stoop, push, pull, and walk.
- Ability to distinguish colors.

Work Hours: 5:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m., Sun.-Sat.; as determined by supervisor. Must be open to working two week-ends per month as needed.
Rate of Pay: $15.00/hr.
