The Johnson County Mental Health Center is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of a Mental Health Registered Nurse (RN) to work on an On-Call basis.

The Mental Health Nurse provides direct psychiatric services to Mental Health Center clients. The first review of applications began July 7, 2025.

Job Description

Job Duties includes:

• Provides comprehensive nursing services; assesses the holistic needs of individuals by incorporating family and environmental factors; collects and documents patient health history; measures and records vital signs; administers injections; completes health assessments and performs limited exams; obtains, processes, and handles lab specimens; manages, controls and implements medication administration programs; performs minor procedures and treatments within designated area of specialty.
• Completes and submits documentation regarding client care and condition; reviews quality and effectiveness of services provided and documented by other service providers.
• Provides clients and families with supportive resources; educates patients in areas impacting health, wellness, and daily living activities; develops and provides specialized health training and education to staff.
• Provides case management, care coordination, referral and follow-up to individuals and/or families; evaluates outcomes, effectiveness of plans, and makes changes as necessary.

Job Requirements

• Successful completion of education program in Nursing that meets the requirements for the Registered Nurse license; licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas; valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• One (1) year of nursing experience is preferred, though recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

  All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments/agencies in a declared emergency situation.
