RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Strategically review property financials to prevent out of norm expenses or missing information
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department
  • Assistance with annual community budgets
  • All bank related items for properties
  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
  • Ensure that bank reconciliations are completed
  • Record and/or invoice all management fees for all communities
  • Ensure all Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled
  • Ensure all credit card receipts are received, recorded, and bill-backed to communities
  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
  • Monitor cash flow for each community and corporate and record accordingly
  • Compile, review, and distribute complete month end and year end financial statements
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent business experience
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior experience in the real estate industry is preferred but not required
  • Strong understanding of property-level financial reporting, budgeting, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasting
  • Experience with real estate accounting systems such as Entrata, Yardi, MRI, RealPage, QuickBooks or similar platforms preferred but not required
  • Proven track record of working with third-party ownership groups, lenders, and external auditors
  • Familiarity with GAAP and real estate-specific accounting standards, including CAM reconciliations, capital expenditure tracking, and cost allocation
