Supervisor, Grounds Worker

Position Summary:   Manage and direct all landscape operations and employee support.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Hire, train and develop landscape staff.  Prioritize daily tasks for staff.  Conduct performance evaluations and disciplinary action.   
  2. Operate mowing equipment and hand-held tools.    Operate heavy or specialized equipment.    Install and maintain manual and automatic irrigation systems.
  3. With support from Manager, prepare annual budget and maintain monthly expenses.
  4. Regular and reliable attendance at the worksite and adhere to assigned schedule. – this position is not a remote or telecommute position.
  5. Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements including all safety guidelines.
  6. Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance and paid off request.

Non-Essential Job Functions

  1. Work alternative hours (weekends and holidays) as necessary.
  2. Snow removal duties
  3. Determine necessary purchases for repair parts and job materials.

Qualifications

Education:   

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent.
  •  Landscape Certification or Bachelor’s Degree in horticulture or landscape design preferred.

Experience:     

  1. Two years supervisory experience.
  2. Three years landscape experience, preferably on a large campus or acreage.
  3. Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and maintain a consistent volume of work order requests.
  5. Former budget planning experience.

Computer Skills:    Basic end-user Windows based PC experience.  

Certificates & Licenses:    Pesticide Applicator Certification or willing to obtain in a specified period of time.

Missouri Chauffeurs License
