Program Assistant

The Program Assistant is an entry level position supporting the Biospecimen Repository Core Facility (BRCF) Program Director. This individual will assist with historic database clean up and specimen inventory.

Required Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalency.

Work Experience: Experience with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or healthcare related field.

Work Experience:

  • Familiar with working with temperature sensitive samples and dry ice.

  • Understanding of cryogenic storage procedures.

  • Background with scientific terminology.

  • Experience using computers and multiple databases.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Inventory samples from freezers for entry into our database.

  • Retrieve samples from hospital main lab.

  • Ensure sample integrity by following proper handling procedures. Follow biological safety guidelines.

  • Gathers, organizes, and prepares source documents for data entry into the appropriate system database.

  • Always follows data program security practices and procedures.

  • Reviews data entered against the original source documents for accuracy and corrects any data entry errors or duplications.

  • Required to navigate within multiple browser windows to locate and transfer proper information between systems.

  • Create spreadsheets and retrieves data from the database as requested.

  • Create and maintain basic reporting matrix for the BRCF.

  • Responsible for supporting the ongoing data projects which includes, but are not limited to, data entry, querying databases, obtaining outcomes data, and filling.

  • Follow quality assurance plan and ensure laboratory processes are performed correctly. This includes daily quality control activities.

  • Adhere to all laboratory standard operating procedures. Participate in reviewing SOP’s for accuracy on an annual basis.

  • Make suggestions on workflow or system efficiency and effectiveness. 

  • Comply with HIPAA guidelines and research regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Pay for this role will be based internal equity. We are anticipating $21.09 - $22.00/hr.
