Plumbing Maintenance Technician
Position Summary: Responsible to install, maintain, repair and preventative maintenance for campus wide plumbing, HVAC, and residential and commercial utility distribution systems while communicating with the Supervisor/Manager of repair needs and priorities. Provide backup for the maintenance department as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
- Install, repair and maintain all plumbing systems campus wide including residential/ commercial buildings.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and building specifications to map layout of utilities and drainage systems.
- Perform routine inspections of plumbing systems to identify, schedule and repair/ replace worn parts and equipment.
- Assist with scope of work on contract and in-house repairs and locate needed parts and materials to complete the assigned project.
- HVAC knowledge preferred.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding the handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Perform regular and routine maintenance and repairs on campus wide plumbing and water distribution systems.
- Ownership of Preventive Maintenance program associated within assigned area.
- Evaluate, schedule, respond and oversee assigned various work orders to include but not limited to plumbing and Utilities and distribution systems, and recognize and report hazardous conditions requiring immediate action in a timely and effective manner.
- Regular and reliable attendance at the worksite and adhere to assigned schedule. – this position is not a remote or telecommute position.
- Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements including all safety guidelines.
- Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance and paid off request
Non-Essential Job Functions:
- Provide backup assistance as needed for the completion of work orders and demands on department staff.
- Demonstrate customer service attitude with each department interaction and work order requests.
- Available to meet after hours/weekends and on-call rotation responsibilities to meet the demands of maintenance department.
- Strong mechanical background and problem-solving skills.
- Snow Removal, as required.
Qualifications
Education:
- Vocational or technical degree in commercial/ residential plumbing or equivalent experience.
License:
- Water Treatment, Distribution, Backflow and DSII Certifications or willing to obtain within the first year of employment as required.
- Valid Drivers’ license – this position requires operating a company vehicle or personal vehicle for company use.

Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in the Industrial maintenance trade. (repair/replacement of plumbing fixtures and equipment)
- Experience in effective communication skills to effectively interact with all levels within the organization.
- Experience in operating effectively after hours and on weekends/holidays, including on-call responsibilities.
- Experience in working with minimal supervision and demonstrate self-motivation
