Plumbing Maintenance Technician
Position Summary:   Responsible to install, maintain, repair and preventative maintenance for campus wide plumbing, HVAC, and residential and commercial utility distribution systems while communicating with the Supervisor/Manager of repair needs and priorities. Provide backup for the maintenance department as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:        

  1. Install, repair and maintain all plumbing systems campus wide including residential/ commercial buildings.
  2. Able to read and interpret blueprints and building specifications to map layout of utilities and drainage systems.
  3. Perform routine inspections of plumbing systems to identify, schedule and repair/ replace worn parts and equipment.  
  4. Assist with scope of work on contract and in-house repairs and locate needed parts and materials to complete the assigned project.
  5. HVAC knowledge preferred. 
  6. Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding the handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  7. Perform regular and routine maintenance and repairs on campus wide plumbing and water distribution systems.
  8. Ownership of Preventive Maintenance program associated within assigned area.
  9. Evaluate, schedule, respond and oversee assigned various work orders to include but not limited to plumbing and Utilities and distribution systems, and recognize and report hazardous conditions requiring immediate action in a timely and effective manner.
  10. Regular and reliable attendance at the worksite and adhere to assigned schedule. – this position is not a remote or telecommute position.
  11. Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements including all safety guidelines.
  12. Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance and paid off request

Non-Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provide backup assistance as needed for the completion of work orders and demands on department staff.
  2. Demonstrate customer service attitude with each department interaction and work order requests.    
  3. Available to meet after hours/weekends and on-call rotation responsibilities to meet the demands of maintenance department.
  4. Strong mechanical background and problem-solving skills.
  5. Snow Removal, as required.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Vocational or technical degree in commercial/ residential plumbing or equivalent experience.

License:  

  • Water Treatment, Distribution, Backflow and DSII Certifications or willing to obtain within the first year of employment as required.
  • Valid Drivers’ license – this position requires operating a company vehicle or personal vehicle for company use.

Experience:    

  1. 5 years’ experience in the Industrial maintenance trade. (repair/replacement of plumbing fixtures and equipment)
  2. Experience in effective communication skills to effectively interact with all levels within the organization.
  3. Experience in operating effectively after hours and on weekends/holidays, including on-call responsibilities.
  4. Experience in working with minimal supervision and demonstrate self-motivation
